Term 3 in Primary 4
3rd May 2024
As May begins in our 3rd term of Primary 4, we have had an extra special week of learning experiences together as we prepare for our First Holy Communion next week.
We have been practising our songs and prayers and how to receive Communion. We have even been practising in Holy Trinity Church and sitting reverently as we prepare ourselves for our special ceremony.
We have created our own artworks to mark the occasion and as May is Mary’s Month we have been assembling our May Altars.
In Numeracy, we’ve been strengthening our understanding of time and reading and showing both digital and analogue times in five minute intervals. We also embraced the sunshine and took some of our numeracy sessions outside working in groups to solve multiplication maths challenges.
In Literacy, we were reading about dragons and we created a piece of independent writing describing our own personal dragons that are special to us. We had great fun imagining them and using adjectives, verbs and adverbs to express their unique personalities. We drew our own illustrations to go with our written work.
In STEM, we are looking at different modes of air travel and Miss McKenna, our student teacher, showed her class how to create and test parachutes. We are looking forward to experimenting with other modes of air travel over the next few weeks.
In PE, we began our first swimming lessons and enjoyed showing how mature we are in getting ourselves changed and ready and listening to our instructors as they coach us to be better swimmers and more confident in the water.
Our ball skills coaching with Shea are continuing over the next few weeks too. We have been having fun catching and receiving this week and working with a partner. We even enjoyed lying down for our ‘cool down’ sessions.
Lots happening everyday in Primary 4 as we continue to get ready to show our greatness in Primary 5.
