🌟P2 Assembly🌟
Today, Mrs Gormley’s Primary 2 class hosted their Class Assembly about Spring.
A huge well done to all the children who spoke so clearly and sang so beautifully, sharing a lovely celebration of Spring with their families and friends. 🌸
🌟Roots of Empathy🌟
The children in Mrs Mc Gee’s P4 class were so excited to see Baby Lana, her Mummy and her Granny for this months family visit. The boys and girls noticed so many changes in Lana. She has 6 teeth, her hair has grown longer and she is constantly on the move! Her Granny explained that Lana is eleven months now so she can eat most foods. She enjoys pasta, potato and she loves avocado!
The children observed how Baby Lana communicates by her facial expression and her body language. We discovered that Lana’s Mummy is so attuned to her baby because she can tell by the sound of Lana’s cry if she is hungry, sad or tired.
We also learned that by singing nursery rhymes and songs we can help Baby Lana to develop communication and language skills. We watched carefully as we sang ‘You are my sunshine’ and ‘Jack and Jill’. Lana laughed and clapped her hands - we could see that a baby learns when it is happy and having fun.
Thank you once again to Aoibhinn, Lana’s Granny and especially our tiny teacher baby Lana! 😊
Happy Earth Day 🌍
At Holy Trinity, we are proud to play our part in looking after the world around us and learning how to protect it for the future.
Today is a reminder that by working together, we can help build a cleaner, greener world for everyone 🫶🏽 🌎

✨ Celebrating Creativity & Sensory Learning ✨
Our Learning Support and Autism Classes recently took part in a wonderful sensory skills art programme, generously funded by Mid Ulster Council. The project aimed to empower and enrich our pupils through creative sensory experiences, while highlighting the abilities of young people with additional needs.
Over four weeks, Áine Mohorič led a fantastic music therapy programme with our P4–P7 ASC/LSC pupils. The children loved exploring and experimenting with a wide range of instruments, engaging fully in this therapeutic and creative journey 🎶
Photographs and videos captured these special moments, and on Thursday 16th April, representatives from our school attended the official exhibition opening at The Burnavon. It was a proud and reflective experience for the pupils as they saw their work on display and revisited their memories.
We were delighted to meet Denise Johnston, Deputy Chair of Mid Ulster Council, along with Áine Mohorič. It was truly a fantastic afternoon, and we are incredibly honoured to have been part of this inspiring programme ⭐️😊
It is with very deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our former Principal, Mr James McGarvey.
On behalf of the Board of Governors, Principal, staff, parents, pupils, and the entire Holy Trinity Primary School community—past and present—we offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
As a dedicated leader, educator and advocate for our community, James left an enduring legacy that continues to shape our school today.
His commitment to the amalgamation of St. Brigid’s (Girls) and St. Mary’s (Boys) led to the establishment of Holy Trinity Primary School in 1992. He guided the renovation and significant extension of the Convent Road site, culminating in the official opening in 1999, just a few short months before his retirement.
James was also enthusiastic and instrumental in developing cross‑community links between local primary schools (Holy Trinity PS and Cookstown PS) with primary schools from Cookstown’s twin town in France—Plerin‑sur‑Mer—overseeing many memorable trips for pupils to and from the region.
His dedication to building a school connected to its community and his vision for excellence in education, touched the lives of countless pupils, families and staff. We are profoundly grateful for the guidance, compassion and unwavering service he offered throughout his years at Holy Trinity.
May he rest in peace, and may his family find comfort in knowing how deeply he was respected and regarded by our whole school community.
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, pray for them.
