P4 World Maths Week

14th Mar 2023

This week in Primary Four we enjoyed participating in a range of fun Numeracy activities. We completed the ‘Daily Ten’ challenge where we tested our mental maths skills against each other. We loved taking part in various outdoor lessons. We drew our own Venn diagrams and sorted various information such as multiples of 2 and 4. We were surprised to see that all of the multiples of 4 were also multiples of 2. We have been working on our four times tables this week, so we used wooden pegs, stones and chalk to physically make the number sentences for the 4 times tables. In class we loved using our problem solving skills to investigate various ways to make amounts of money using different variations of coins. We were able to use practical materials to prove our findings. We worked in groups to complete a Maths Trail around our school. We worked in groups and used our problem solving skills to complete our trail. The trail also helped us to link real-life examples to concepts that we are learning about in class.
