Nursery October 2023
27th Oct 2023
It has been a very busy and exciting week for our Nursery children!
The children helped to make colourful “Bottle Babies” which will be used to enhance loose parts play. The children have already been using the Bottle Babies imaginatively; in the mud kitchen, around the camp fire, in wheelbarrows and even used them as a “bowling alley”.
The children were also excited to mix cornflour and water together to make gloop. They had great fun exploring the slimy gloop with their hands. They were fascinated by the consistency of the mixture and enjoyed trying to roll the gloop into a ball.
It's pumpkin season and the children took turns to lift the heavy pumpkin before we carved it. They all agreed the pumpkin felt heavy. They children were then encouraged to find things in the classroom that felt “light”.
Finally with spooky season upon us, the nursery children helped to make spooky spells and magic potions by combining bicarbonate of soda and vinegar. There were lots of laughs and squeals of delight as the vinegar reacted with the bicarbonate of soda causing the potions to “erupt”, “bubble” and “explode”.
