ASC LSC Beekeeper Visit 🐝
Caoimhin, in ASC 1, invited his dad, Cahir, into school to talk to the boys and girls in the LSC/ASC about his very special job. Cahir is a beekeeper and he brought in a hive full of bees and all the specialised equipment he uses. He explained that there were 3000 bees in the hive and detailed the specific jobs of the Queen, males, and female bees. The children got to ask Cahir questions and try on some of the bee suits. Caoimhin’s Mum made some delicious honeycomb for us to sample. Each child went home with an individual jar of honey and a sachet of pollinator friendly wildflower seeds to plant. We are so thankful for Cahir and Ciara volunteering their time to give us this wonderful experience.
