P6 Digital School House
4th Dec 2023
Miss Shields’ Primary 6 class participated in a fun and engaging Digital Schoolhouse workshop delivered by Mr McVeigh from Holy Trinity College Cookstown.
We listened carefully to find out what an algorithm was and how we use them in our daily life. Algorithms are sets of instructions. We use instructions every day to get things done. A chef follows a recipe to make their favourite dish; the recipe is an algorithm. A pupil may follow a set of instructions to carry out a science experiment in school, those instructions are an algorithm. We did not realise how frequently we use them.
We followed instructions on how to dance to many well-known songs and then followed instructions on how to draw based on what we heard.
We also discovered how to solve problems by drawing and implementing our own algorithms, through dance and magic.
We thoroughly enjoyed today’s session on algorithms and thank Mr McVeigh for joining us today. 😊
