Mr Teague’s P5 class participated in the Cookstown Enthuse Project. Today, we had to predict the quantity of sugar in different foods. We were shocked to find that smarties contained 24 g of sugar and Monster Drink contained 54 g of sugar. We also learnt that you cannot purchase this drink until you are 16. We learnt that we can still have our treats but should reduce the quantity of how much we consume. We could do this by buying a smaller packet, sharing with our friends, or only having our treats once a week. Finally, we got to carry out a few experiments, such as making the orange sink and designing a boat which could hold marbles.
We had great fun working with the Year 13 students.
