P4 Trip to Gortin Glen Day 1
18th Jun 2024
Mrs Heatherington’s class and Group 1 of Mrs Eastwood’s class had a fantastic time at Gortin Glen today with our forestry facilitators Lynn and Liz.
We explored our beautiful surroundings and with a sprinkling of imagination from a special jar we journeyed through some of our favourite stories. We created our own BFG Dream Jar filled with happy memories and little signs of fairy tales that our imaginations helped us to find.
We searched for signs of trolls and fairy tale creatures. We tried to be as fit as the forest wildlife and move our arms as fast as dragon flies’ and bumble bees’ wings. We tried to jump high like frogs over muddy puddles too. We saw the habitats of the animals of Gortin Glen - owls, badgers, rabbits, bats and foxes to name but a few and we tracked deer and met the new baby fawn. We worked together to walk the assault course and collected little items to create memory cards of our walk.
Finally to top our day off, we had fun with our friends in the adventure play park.
We had such a great day and lots of learning fun and we know that Mrs Conlan’s class and Mrs Eastwood’s Group 2 will have too when they visit tomorrow.
