Autumn in Primary 3
This week, the Primary 3 students immersed themselves in diverse outdoor learning experiences and engaged in activity-based learning that connected with various aspects of the curriculum. In our Numeracy sessions, the focus was on the concept of length. The introduction to metres led us to compare lengths greater or shorter than 1m. We extended this exploration outdoors, identifying items with varying lengths, some exceeding and others falling short of 1m. Another numerical focus involved recognising and creating repeating patterns, demonstrated through the crafting of repeating shape patterns using 2D shapes. This activity seamlessly tied into the narrative of "The Rainbow Fish," inspiring the creation of remarkable Rainbow Fish with captivating repeating patterns.
In our Literacy studies, the spotlight was on verbs and their application in daily life. Beginning with lively games like 'Verb Charades' and 'Simon Says,' we progressed to identifying verbs in sentences and then wrote our own sentences featuring verbs. Interactive activities on Ed Shed supported our spelling learning, while our reading of "The Rainbow Fish" prompted meaningful discussions on kindness and friendship, aligning with the theme of anti-bullying week. As well as we discussed this year’s anti-bullying week theme; “Make a Noise About Bullying”. We created superheroes and shared with our class ways in which we can be superheroes and prevent bullying. We also read the story “Have you filled your bucket today?” and discussed ways in which we can all be kinder to ourselves and others and created a lovely class friendship chain.
Our PE session, led by AB coaching, brought enthusiasm as we developed our ball handling skills. The dedication and excellent efforts displayed by the P3 students in all aspects of their learning fill us, the teachers, with immense pride. Keep up these excellent work habits and the joy for learning!
