⭐️ Official Opening of Holy Trinity Primary School’s Specialised Learning Centres ⭐️

19th Dec 2023
Friday 18th December 2023, was a momentous day in Holy Trinity Primary School with the official opening of the Learning Support Centres. It was a privilege to have Michelle O’Neill, MLA, officially open these Centres.

It was a morning of music and entertainment. Invited guests included Mr Don Sonner, Chairperson of the Board of Governors and representatives from the Education Authority, MLA’s and the local community. Miss Sheila Devlin (Principal) also welcomed the parents/guardians from our specialised Centres.

The school choir opened our ceremony and the senior members of the traditional group played a selection of Christmas carols and tunes. We had a special performance from the pupils within the five specialised centres. Forty one pupils showcased their proficiency in Makaton by signing some Christmas songs, to reinforce our ethos of inclusiveness. We are proud to have such amazing and talented pupils in our school.

A key focus of Holy Trinity Primary School’s mission statement is that “We care for others especially those in need”. Over the past seven years, Miss Devlin and the staff have worked tirelessly to secure appropriate specialised support for young children with additional needs both within our school and the wider community. Due to these efforts, our specialised provision has extended considerably.

Currently there are two Autism Centres; for Foundation Stage/Key Stage One and Key Stage Two pupils and three Learning Support Centres; for Primary One / Two pupils, for Primary Three/Four pupils and a Key Stage Two Centre for Primary Five-Seven pupils.

Our centres have highly trained and skilled staff and they strive to deliver a curriculum that is differentiated to suit the educational and medical needs of the pupils. Each centre promotes an inclusive and nurturing environment where every child is respected for who they are, regardless of their needs.
